About the Three Kings Parade

The Three Kings Parade, known in Spanish as "Cabalgata de Reyes," is one of the most anticipated events in Barcelona's calendar. Celebrated on the evening of January 5th, this magical parade marks the arrival of the Three Wise Men - Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar - who, according to tradition, bring gifts to children on the night before Epiphany.

The parade features spectacular floats, marching bands, dancers, and performers who travel through the city streets throwing candy and small gifts to the excited crowds. The Three Kings themselves ride on magnificent floats, greeting the thousands of families who line the route.

For children in Spain, this is the most important night of the year - even more so than Christmas Eve. They leave their shoes by the window or door, along with food for the kings and their camels, hoping to wake up to find gifts on January 6th, Epiphany morning.
